City awards $12,000 to Parkersburg Art Center for arts programming and education initiatives
PARKERSBURG -The City of Parkersburg is recognizing the Parkersburg Art Center as part of its fiscal year 2027 community investment support, providing $12,000 to support programming intended to expand access to arts education and strengthen downtown vibrancy, according to a city press release.
The Parkersburg Art Center provides programming for residents of all ages and throughout the year offers exhibits, classes and community engagement, the release said.
Mayor Tom Joyce highlighted the importance of investing in local cultural institutions.
“The Parkersburg Art Center plays a vital role in the cultural fabric of our community,” he said in the release. “Their work not only provides meaningful arts education and enrichment opportunities for residents but also helps drive traffic and energy to our downtown. The city is proud to support their continued success.”
Parkersburg Art Center Managing Director Jessie Siefert expressed appreciation for the city’s continued partnership.
“We are thankful for the support of the City of Parkersburg,” she said in the release. “This funding ensures that the Parkersburg Art Center remains open, accessible and fully staffed, allowing us to provide affordable arts education for all ages without interruption or reduction in services. It also strengthens our role as a cultural and economic driver in downtown Parkersburg, supporting local artists, creating jobs and bringing energy and activity to the heart of our city.”
The city will formally present the funding during a check presentation ceremony at 1 p.m. May 11 at the Parkersburg Art Center.
