Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force announces arrest

An Akron man was arrested this week and charged with possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force announced.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, agents with the task force initiated a traffic stop on a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze on Camden Avenue, near the East Street intersection, after observing a traffic violation, a release from the task force said. The task force was assisted by the West Virginia State Police and the Parkersburg Police Department.

During the stop, the passenger of the vehicle was observed reaching under the seat and subsequently detained, the release said. The passenger was identified as Khalil Rashad Alexander, 27, from Akron. After a positive K9 indication on the vehicle, agents searched it and found over 100 grams of suspected fentanyl and over 75 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Alexander was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl with the intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and two counts of transporting drugs into the state.

Alexander was later arraigned and received a $600,000 bond, which he failed to post. He remains incarcerated in the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
