Community: Grateful for scholarship support

Should there be any doubt of the wide range of Mid-Ohio Valley residents who look for all the ways they can do good for their communities, the Marietta Community Foundation’s list of scholarships awarded for 2026 should put it to rest.

Approximately $550,000 across dozens of different scholarships was awarded because of the generosity of those who set up scholarship funds AND those who choose to support them and the foundation.

From graduates of specific high schools pursuing specific fields of study to the children of employees of certain companies and those who have excelled academically no matter where or what they study, there is support for a broad range of local students.

Help in funding their post-secondary academic pursuits is possible not only because of donors, but because of those at the foundation who are such careful stewards of the money. Members of the volunteer scholarship committee dedicate their time and effort to reviewing more than 100 applicants.

“Stepping into this role right before scholarship season started has been incredibly rewarding,” said Charlotte Sweet, program services associate at Marietta Community Foundation. “Each application reflects a student who is working hard, setting goals and truly thinking about their future – and that’s something special to be part of. It’s been an honor to help carry out a process that connects those students with the generosity of donors who believe in their potential. I’m really excited to continue building on this momentum and to see how this program grows in the year ahead.”

No doubt it will grow, as even when times get tougher, local residents find a way to dig deep to support students. After all, they are the ones we know will be working toward a brighter future.

Thank you, to the folks at the Marietta Community Foundation and all those who support these scholarship funds for making that happen.

Starting at $2.99/week.
